Coaching Points
  • The exercise tries to simulate what could happen during a match and stimulate the attacking cast to score a goal and the defensive one to avoid goals
  • Ball possession:
    • Creation of possession triangles, useful to avoid the opponents
    • Work on the reaction to the negative transition, once players lose possession, the closest player to the ball presses the opponent while their teammates get closer
    • Work on the overall distance between players
    • Work on the orientation of the body when receiving the ball, it should always be facing the widest part of the pitch
    • Encourage the touch and go: After playing the ball with a teammate the player continues their race to then go into an empty space where they can receive the ball again
    • Minimum ideal unity: The player that possesses the ball must always have a minimum number of teammates available that can guarantee him a pass at any moment
    • The player that is the closest to the one that possesses the ball must choose what to do, an approaching or in depth movement
    • Encourage player to execute the counter movement for unmarking and the consequente reception of the ball
    • To accomplish a continuous mobility and keep the proper staggering, two close players that are on the same line, either horizontal or vertical, must move, creating diagonal game lines
