Organization
Inside a 60x40 playing area, create a target zone 5 meters wide using the cones and place it about 25 meters away from the full size goal slightly to the left of the penalty area. Divide the team into 3 groups of 4 players. One group stays 10 meters in front of the target zone with a ball for each player. The second group stays 10 meters behind the target zone (as shown in the figure). The third group stays at the bottom corner of the penalty area with a vest for each player. The goalkeeper defends the goal.
Description
  • On the coach's starting signal, player A passes the ball towards the target zone while player B comes to receive the pass in the target zone
  • Player B after receiving performs an oriented control towards the goal in order to shoot as quickly as possible, while the defender C performs a forward roll and goes to press player B to prevent the shot. 1 vs 1 situation
  • If player B beats the defender C, they can shoot at goal
  • If the defender C stops player B, the action is completed
  • After the action, players swap their positions (A replaces B, B replaces C and C retrieves the ball and replaces A)

Variations
  1. Add a small goal at the center 25 meters away from the full size goal to allow player C to shoot at the small goal if they regain the ball
  2. Perform the exercise on the opposite side of the field
Coaching Points
  • Focus on the positioning of player C during the 1 vs 1 game
  • Encourage the striker B to complete the action as soon as possible
  • During the 1 vs 1 game it is recomended for the striker, to vary the dribbling skills to create space to shoot
