Attacking phase - 4-3-3 game system

  • Sufficient balls

  • Playing area: 60x55 meters (regulatory half field)
  • Players: 15 + 1 goalkeeper 
  • Duration: 18 minutes
  • Series: 2 series of 8 minutes interspersed with 2 minutes of passive recovery
Summary Secondary Objectives
With this exercise we train the movements in 4-3-3 system, crossing and shooting
Pass, Cross, Finishing, Switching the attack, 4-3-3, Insertion
Place the players inside the half field in the roles of midfielders and strikers with the coach as the holding midfielder. The goalkeeper stays in goal. Place some balls at the center of the field for the coach and some others near the corners.
  1. The coach passes to one of the 2 midfielders
  2. The midfielder gets the ball and passes to the other midfielder
  3. Pass to the striker
  4. The striker controls the ball and then passes to the closest winger who comes inside to receive the layoff
  5. The winger makes a long switch pass for the opposite winger
  6. The player controls the ball and crosses the ball into the box for the teammates to finish on goal
  • Divide the team in 3 groups of 5 and swap them after every finishing movement
  • The players that performed the exercise go back to the starting positions rotating in a anticlockwise way
  • The players have a rest on the spot until the next group has completed their action
  • After the first series, change the attacking side (cross from the left then from the right)

Coaching Points
  • Focus on the targets:
    • Physical - Aerobic training
    • Technical - Passing, crossing and shooting
    • Tactical - Movements for the 4-3-3 system
  • The players have to move with the right timing taking the correct positions in order to shoot at goal
